Strahil Petrovski
Born in 1974 in Kumanovo, Republic of Macedonia, Strahil Petrovski is a representative of the middle generation of visual and multimedia artists. He graduated in painting in 1997 at the University of "St. Cyril and Methodius" - Skopje, Faculty of Fine Arts, in the classroom. prof. Rodoljub Anastasov, after which in 2000 he completed postgraduate studies at the same faculty under the same mentor. From 2000 to 2002, he worked as an external associate demonstrator in the subject Painting technology and painting techniques, with prof. Momcilo Petrovski and Prof. Velo Tashovski, at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje, and from 2002 to 2010 he was employed on a part-time basis at the NU National Conservation Center - Skopje as an external associate conservator in the icon conservation and restoration laboratory. He also participates in the realization of the first scientific research project "Brestal", under the mentorship of prof. Momcilo Petrovski, at the Faculty of Fine Arts - Skopje. His artistic practice encompasses multiple forms and media of expression, such as: painting, installation, conceptual art, photography and video art. Petrovski, especially in recent years, uses themes related to existentialism and sociopolitical issues as a post-conceptual discourse, but also deeply aesthetic solutions as a formalist interest. A large number of his works are in public and private collections, including museums and galleries in the country and abroad.
He is a member of DLUM since 1997, of ICOMOS from 2001 to 2007 and of ICOM from 2011 to the present. He works as a conservator-restorer advisor at the NU National Conservation Center - Skopje and as an Assistant Professor in photography and multimedia subjects at the Faculty of Art and Design at the European University, Skopje.
