Vangel Kodzoman (1904-1994)
Born 1904 in Struga, Macedonia. Vangel Kodzoman belongs to the generation of pioneer painters, who between the two world wars and especially after the liberation, strongly contributed to the affirmation of Macedonian contemporary art and the creation of new generation of artists, so he is considered one of the founders of Macedonian contemporary art.
1924-Starts in School of Art in Belgrade, and then a two-year academic course with prof. Milan Milovanovik, and also attended classes with B. Vukanovik и and Lj.Ivanovik.
1931-Worked as an art pedagogue in the Ohrid High School, laying the foundations of art pedagogy in Macedonia.
1938-1945 Worked as a professor of art education in Belgrade
1945-1952 Worked as an art teacher at the School of Applied Arts in Skopje
Kodzoman is one of the founders of the Association of Fine Artists of Macedonia in Skopje, and a longtime member of the board.
1952-He started working as a professor at the Pedagogical School in Skopje, where he taught painting and methodology of art education until 1972. He is founder of the art group at the Pedagogical School in Skopje and teacher of several generations of young Macedonian artists.
1955-1956 Study stay in Paris
1969 - Winner of the October Award of Macedonia for lifetime achievement.
1972-Skopje, opened the thematic exhibition "The Old Skopje Bazaar".
He received the honorary title of Honored Art Teacher of Yugoslavia.
1974 - The permanent thematic exhibition "Struga in the Past" is opened in Struga, housed in the memorial house of Vangel Kodzoman.
1975-Winner of the November Award of the city of Struga, the same year he became a corresponding member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and since 1981 a full member.
1979-AVNOJ Award for general significance for the development of SFRY in the field of fine arts.
1981-Winner of the award "November 13" of the city of Skopje for the thematic exhibition "July 26, 1963" Vangel Kodzoman is considered a painter of the Macedonian landscape and the Macedonian man, working in the spirit of academic realism and post-impressionist practice, forming his painting of the experiences of intimacy, social art, as well as Cubism, Fauvism and Expressionism.
