BIO:

VELJO TASHOVSKI (1949 – 2009)
Veljo Tashovski was born in 1949 in v. Osoj, Debar, Republic of Mace0donia. He graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana in 1975 at the Painting Department, with professor Gabrijel Stupica. He completed the postgraduate studies in 1979 at the same Academy. Until 1983 he lived and worked in Ljubljana where he was a member of the Association of Artists of Slovenia and the Association of Artists of Ljubljana. He was also member of the art group “Ekvurna” where he actively participated at many art events. During this period he worked as a freelance artist. In the meantime he realized several solo exhibitions and participated at significant art colonies in ex-Yugoslavia and abroad. Since 1984 he became actively engaged in the art life in Macedonia. He realized study visits in several European countries and in the US. In 1987 he started working at the Faculty of Fine Arts and in 2001 he got the academic title of professor at the same Faculty, at the department of Painting. During the period 1993-1995 he was Associate Dean for teaching, and in the period 2002-2006 he was Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University “St. Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje, Macedonia.

1989 - Special recognition for painting from DLUM (Association of Artists of Macedonia), Skopje
1989 - First prize for painting small format “Dimitar Pandilov“, Skopje
1991 - Purchase prize for drawing at the MoCA, Skopje
2005 - Gold Plaque for painting “Nereshki Majstori“, Skopje
